Battle won - a cause for rejoicing

Great happiness! Scotland, my great nation hath been restored again to its previous honour. That devil’s child, Sweno, learned his lesson to never set foot on Scottish land again. What does that Sweno have in common with a pig? Well, he is a swine, a filthy, rotten, no-good pig. Ha! Those atrocious Irish and Norwegian troops were like flies to my valiant captains, Macbeth and Banquo. My captains simply went around ending their blasted lives and smeared their dirty blood over the lands. What skill and strength this power team presented in the face of battle? My countrymen owe their lives to Macbeth and Banquo and I will forever be indebted to them. The heavenly rains could not wash out the bloodbath that happened on these lands. My deepest condolences go out to those men who died in battle. To their families: your men could not have died a more honourable death.

This battle has been raging on for months and we saw little progress. That Macdonwald, the ruthless military leader, had dampened my hopes several times. Now, his severed head on our battlements is a great trophy for the Scottish troops in this war. Again, Bravo Macbeth!

The thane of Cawdor, I’m hanging him for his deep betrayal. He is a spineless fool for betraying the King. If you fail in everything in life, still, you should always remain loyal to your motherland. How many nights have I let that lily-livered rat stay in my castle? For all I know, he could have been giving away all my plans to those Norwegians. There is no art to find the mind’s construction in the face.

On the other hand, I have Macbeth. The Scottish flag raises high today because of Macbeth's great effort in saving this country. I have already sent word through Ross to give the title of thane of Cawdor to Macbeth. He will soon arrive at Forres. I am ecstatic to meet him. I feel it is only a small reward for his efforts. God has rewarded me greatly by sending me such a valiant soldier to fight for this country.

Off to Dunsinane

Very soon I'll be visiting the great Macbeth. I'm so pleased to be invited to his home. He is a good, honourable man who serves his country well. He has saved Scotland from invasion and for that I will be eternally grateful. I recently gave him the title of Thane of Cawdor; I see great things in Macbeth's future. I can't wait to meet Lady Macbeth. If she is anything like her husband, she will be a wonderfully kind lady. I am expecting my stay to be nothing short of completely enjoyable.

Fantastic Feast

I am writing from my chamber in Dunsinaine. It has a lovely décor, as does the rest of Macbeth’s home. The entire castle is very lovely and I feel very comfortable here. My servants and I were welcomed with the utmost kindness, generosity and respect. Lady Macbeth met us at the door with open arms, but my most trusted Thane of Cawdor was not present for some reason… Oh well, I am sure Macbeth was just busy. Perhaps, he was preparing for my arrival. The feast was delightful and the food was delicious. Look above to view the feast. I loved the friendship that was shared. To be honest, I am a little worried for my Thane of Cawdor. He does not look well, perhaps something is bothering him. I must talk to him about it tomorrow.

P.S. I found this hilarious video showing the moves of the most popular song at the party: 'Everybody dance now!'. It was a lot of fun! I even taped my foot a bit (I am not much of a dancer).

Posthumous

Dearest Sons Malcolm and Donalbain,
These will be my final words before I cross the bridge to heaven forever. Once I cross, there is no turning back; these three old women covered in black are guiding me there. I had to leave my last will before I go, so I asked them to deliver to you this letter. Be of good cheer and do not be saddened by my death, but be thankful that you have this chance to put order into Scotland once again. Both of you made the right decision to forsake Scotland to redeem your own lives. I am very pleased with what both of you have accomplished.

Brave Malcolm, give a special thanks to Macduff for his courage to take revenge for his family and assist you in the defeat of Macbeth. By the divine rights you are meant to be the royal King of Scotland, but do not make the same mistake I did by trusting too easily and acting blindly, as it let Macbeth take advantage of me. Lastly, Malcolm I applaud you for your bravery and your righteousness that you bring to Scotland.

Donalbain, do not be disheartened that you will not be crowned, but rather give your loyal support to Malcolm. You can still be a leader of Scotland and help in keeping the order in Scotland, even without the title as "King". Remember son, sometimes being King can be regretful because, you may not know who your true allies and enemies are. Keep a noble and loyal heart to both your brother and Scotland.

I see the light, I do not have much longer...sons...it is only a matter of time before you join me in this heavenly home. The picture that I have attached to this letter symbolizes the final result as light over darkness, in other words a righteous King (Malcolm) over a evil tyrant (Macbeth). It is also similar to the scenery I see right now. To finish, the song "one sweet day" truly delivers my message and feelings in a beautiful form of art, especially when it says: "Like so many friends we've lost along the way. And I know we'll eventually be together. One Sweet Day."

Your dear father,
Duncan
